Homelessness Prevention and Housing Assistance

Cuyahoga County residents facing eviction, foreclosure, or homeless may be eligible for financial assistance for rent deposits, rent, mortgage payments, delinquent real estate taxes, or utility payments (if related to ability to maintain shelter).

The Housing Services office offers counseling, provides financial assistance, and can help to identify safe, affordable housing. The applications for these benefits are only taken when funds are available for financial assistance. Payments are made directly to landlords, housing managers, and lenders on behalf of the eligible tenants and/or homeowners. Rental property owners are encouraged to list their properties with the Housing Services Office if they would like to have referrals from the program.

For housing assistance information and appointments, call (216) 518-4013.

The Ohio Department of Development's Office of Community Service and Office of Housing and Community Partnerships provide funding for these programs and benefits.
