The Council for Economic Opportunities in Greater Cleveland (CEOGC) held a Regional Conversation on Poverty at the Trinity Cathedral in downtown Cleveland on Monday, February 9th, 2009 from 10 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

The Leadership Team for the event consisted of:
Robert Hamilton, Housing Services Manager, CEOGC
Joe Gauntner, Director, Cuyahoga Department of Employment and Family Services
Gary Norton, East Cleveland City Council Member
Tim Walters, Community Activist, May Dugan Center
Jessica Mallet, Chair, Head Start Parent Policy Council
Tom Mendelsohn, Director, Empowerment Center of Greater Cleveland
The attendance included low-income, working poor, unemployed job and service-seeking citizens, elected officials, community volunteers, staff of city, county, and state government, and staff of locally active non-profit organizations.
ASL Advocates provided signing service for a hearing impaired attendee, and CEOGC provided supervised child care for parents who were accompanied by their children. The location was easily accessible by public transportation and free parking was available.
Sixty-four guests attended the event and fifteen CEOGC staff assisted with check-in, table hosting, and recording of the key points raised in the table conversations.
The conversations produced relevant recommendations that will be reviewed by the Governor's Anti-Poverty Task Force.
