CEOGC News: 2009 Merlin Hayes Pancake Breakfast

On Saturday, November 21st CEOGC Head Start hosted its annual Merlin Hayes Male Involvement Pancake Breakfast at the Louis Stokes Head Start Center in the Lee Harvard Community.

Gary Norton, newly elected Mayor of East Cleveland provided the keynote address to the over one hundred families in attendance. CEOGC Family Service Worker Ricardo Camargo from the Willard Head Start Center received the Merlin Hayes Senior Male Involvement Volunteer of the Year Award for his dedication to fatherhood programs throughout CEOGC. Several other fathers who have been extremely active in their childrens' Head Start program received "Pillars of Strength" Volunteer Service awards.

The breakfast is held in honor of Merlin Hayes, a longtime CEOGC Head Start employee who created the event to spur involvement by fathers in the lives of their young children.
