There are many contributing parts to this organization that allow it to flourish, none more important than another. If you’ve seen CEOGC event fliers, graphics on the website or artwork around the office, you’ve seen the work of The Council’s highly-talented graphic artist. Graphic designer, artist, musician, comedian, father, and husband – Austin Sims does it all.

Sims has worked for CEOGC for almost three years as the graphic designer. “I love working at CEOGC,” he said. “I always had the goal of being a part of something meaningful; this job has been just that for me and more.”

Originally from Cleveland, Sims grew up all over the “the Land,” as he so eloquently referred to the city. He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School on Cleveland’s east side and went on to attend The Art Institute of Pittsburgh where he graduated with a Bachelors of Art and Science. He always knew he would end up in a career that enabled him to be creative on the daily basis. “I studied graphic design in college so I’ve been an artist for a while, but my true passion is music and entertainment,” said Sims.

What most people don’t know about Sims is that he is a local rapper. In 2017 he decided to pursue his dreams of songwriting & rapping and came up with a whole different persona – Austin Power$ was born.

“I’d placed my dreams on hold in order to focus on my family,” he said. “I created Austin Power$ and it’s just personal and fun; I’ve had a little bit of success, but I have lots more to learn and achieve.”

Since coming up with his alter ego, Sims has been cast in a few productions around the city. They’ve been relatively small roles, but the knowledge gained from being on set with tenured actors, videographers and writers have been the greatest payout thus far. “Hopefully in the near future, I can begin to write my own scripts in the comedy, action and drama genres,” he said.

When Sims isn’t rapping and producing, he’s at home with his wife and five-year-old son, Alex. “First off, I love my family. My wife and I have been married for 9 years and she is my comfort place,” said Sims. “My little twin, Alex, is one of the funniest and most exciting persons I know. I am truly proud to be his father.” While spending time with family, you can catch Sims vibing to music, watching anime and looking up new recipes – he’s a self-proclaimed foodie.

Ultimately Sims’ goal is to inspire an entire generation to pursue their goals and dreams without hesitation, no matter what. “My life goal is to bless others and bring them happiness, peace, and joy,” exclaimed Sims. “In some way, I hope to be a positive influence for the culture.”
