The Council for Economic Opportunities in Greater Cleveland has been recognized with the Bright Spot Award by the National Head Start Association (NHSA), for continuously being an example of high-quality service to the community in Cuyahoga County.
CEOGC joins nine other Head Start programs across the country receiving recognition from the NHSA as a part of their multi-year narrative project, “Standing Strong, Staying United: Strengthening Every Head Start Community.” The project’s purpose is to further advocate for policy changes that enable CEOGC to continue to support at-risk children and families, helping them to succeed.
As an award recipient, CEOGC is granted a monetary gift of $1,500 and will act as an ambassador for the NHSA, highlighting best practices in the industry by hosting a community forum that will be scheduled within the first three months of the new year. A representative of CEOGC will also be invited to attend the Annual Head Start Conference in San Antonio next spring to share the outcomes of the forum with peer agencies.
“The Bright Spot Award is such a great honor in which to participate,” said Dr. Thea Wilson, Vice President of Children & Families. “It gives us an avenue to give back to the community in regards to information about early childhood education. We are planning to do the forum in the early spring.”
Congratulations to our Head Start sites for their dedicated service to the community!
